The same awkward procedure is repeated each time a fresh batch of Epstein documents comes to light. Names appear. People rush to defend themselves. Attorneys are employed. The actual content of what was said—the precise words used between two people who believed they were writing privately—sits somewhere in the middle of the legal wrangling and carefully worded statements, making it more difficult to discount than any press release.

Before the DOJ published its most recent batch of Epstein files, few people were familiar with Ramsey Elkholy. He now describes himself as a musician and anthropologist, the creator of the band Monotronic, and someone who has, at least on the surface, moved on from the world of fashion introductions and modeling agencies.

However, according to documents recently made public by the U.S. Department of Justice, he corresponded with Jeffrey Epstein from at least 2009 until just before the financier passed away in 2019. A large portion of their correspondence concerned access to female models. That’s ten years. It’s not a lighthearted relationship.

Elkholy wrote to Epstein in 2011 about a woman in her 20s who was “desperate for cash,” saying, “Dear Jeffrey PLEASE just try her in bed.”” Elkholy wrote again two days later, hoping the financier was “getting some mileage” out of the woman’s predicament of “being all alone” in New York, after not hearing back from Epstein. One word was Epstein’s response: “Zero.”

A few days later, Elkholy persisted in his demands; the BBC reported that it is hard to read the entire text without feeling a slight disgust. The emails don’t read like a man unaware of what Epstein was, regardless of what Elkholy thought he was doing. They read like a man making a valiant effort to help himself.

Earlier, in a 2009 email, Elkholy wrote: “I don’t need to tell you that I also value your friendship,” shortly after Epstein was released from prison on a charge of soliciting prostitution from a minor. I see introducing you to models as more of a favor, which is why I never ask for anything in return. In closing, he referred to Epstein as “a solid person.”

It is worth mentioning that this was written to a man who had recently completed his sentence for asking a minor for sex. There is no ambiguity in the timeline. There is no hidden context. What Elkholy believed he was taking part in is still genuinely unclear, as is whether there is a satisfactory answer to that question after ten years of this type of correspondence.

Elkholy apologized to the BBC for his association with Epstein and the language in some of his emails, claiming he was unaware of the financier’s mistreatment of women. Additionally, he stated that he only had ten or twelve encounters with Epstein during those ten years, portraying the relationship as more incidental than the volume of emails might imply.

On the DOJ website, a search for his last name yields more than 2,000 results, many of which are duplicates. The footprint is substantial even when duplication is taken into consideration. Elkholy’s attorneys sent a cease-and-desist letter to Digital Music News, the publication that had covered his ties to Epstein, in March 2026. This action typically attracts more attention than the initial reporting, not less.

What the Elkholy emails reveal about the machinery surrounding Epstein, rather than just Epstein himself, is what makes them especially worth analyzing. According to the messages, Elkholy talked about arranging meetings between models and Epstein’s contacts in the fashion industry, such as at the Vera Wang label and Victoria’s Secret, which was then owned by Epstein’s largest client, Les Wexner. fashion houses. brands of underwear.

The use of legitimate industry infrastructure as a funnel, or at least the possibility of doing so. The documents also indicate that Elkholy had contact with Jean-Luc Brunel, a French model agent who was found dead in his Paris prison cell in 2022 while being investigated for child trafficking and rape. Brunel was accused by Brazilian women of recruiting girls for Epstein to sexually exploit. These documents describe a network, not a group of discrete actors. It appears more like an informal, unquestionable, and successful system.

The two men talked about bringing a Russian woman to the US in their last known conversation, which took place three months before Epstein’s 2019 arrest. According to Elkholy’s letter, she “will be in London if you want to import her.” Epstein advised that obtaining a US visa was challenging and recommended Dubai as an alternative.

In some ways, that conversation—two men in routine correspondence about a woman’s movement, years after the pattern of Epstein’s actions was already known to the public, documented, and punished once in court—is the most unsettling of all. It is ordinary in tone and clinical in its logistics.

Observing the development of this specific story serves as a reminder that Epstein’s operation required more normalcy than secrecy: an ecosystem of people who introduced themselves, called, sent cordial emails, and told themselves it wasn’t their place to ask too many questions.

The evidence is insufficient to determine whether Ramsey Elkholy was an informed participant or a helpful acquaintance who didn’t pay close attention to what he was feeding. What the emails do resolve is that the correspondence was maintained, the access was genuine, and the language used—desperate for money, alone in New York, please just try her—describes a young woman as an issue that needs to be resolved for the benefit of someone else. That much is clear.
